Our Week: Welcome to a new month of school! This week, the kids focused on working independently and in small groups during centers time. We mainly focused on the events in chapters
four through seven of Harry Potter. For math, the students began making posters and artsy/crafty objects that will replicate Diagon Alley. They had a terrific time with their fourth grade "Study
Buddies" from Michele's class as they assembled treats for Harry Potter, and participated in partner reading. Our banquet was a success! THANK YOU to all of the parents who provided food, set up the
lunch, and joined us during this event.
Coming Up: As planned earlier, I will introduce the class to brainstorming and webbing - so that they know how to organize their ideas before writing a composition. We will begin
formally studying words (which includes phonics) through whole class games, reading practice, and writing. We will continue the study of patterns, grouping of numbers into 1's and 10's, telling time
by the hour, and the sorting of small objects by attribute. More will be announced soon about our curriculum this month.
